Nicolas Lanthier

Nicolas Lanthier is a professor of medicine at UCLouvain (Brussels, Belgium). He completed his medical training and then specialised in gastroenterology and hepatology first in Namur, then in Brussels, Paris and Geneva. Following an interest in scientific research, he completed a PhD in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences on the role of liver macrophages in hepatic insulin resistance. He is currently a medical doctor at the Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc and a clinician-researcher for the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique. His main research topic is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, conducting both academic and multicenter trials. He also works in collaboration with the group of Nathalie Delzenne and Patrice Cani on the links between the gut microbiota, metabolic syndrome and liver diseases. He is the author of more than 115 peer-reviewed manuscripts and a member of several scientific societies in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical nutrition.
