Julian Leprince

Julian Leprince joined in 2023 the University Clinic of Dental Medicine (CUMD) of the University of Geneva (Switzerland), where he was appointed to head the Division of Cariology and Endodontology. He is a clinician, educator and researcher. His research interests are diverse, focusing among others on progress in dental materials, pulp biology, and clinical research in cariology and endodontology.
He was previously a professor at UCLouvain (Brussels, Belgium) where he taught courses in endodontics, cariology & conservative dentistry. He was also involved in teaching biomaterials and immunology applied to dental diseases. As part of his clinical activity, he was head of the Department of Adult and Child Dentistry at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc (Brussels, Belgium) and responsible for the post-graduate program in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontology. He obtained his dental degree in 2006, and his PhD in 2010 (UCLouvain). He then completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of the Pacific (San Francisco, CA, USA) on pulp biology and dental stem cells.
Upon his return to UCLouvain in 2011, he created the DRIM research group whose objective is to connect basic research to clinical practice. Within this group, he has supervised PhDs on topics ranging from dental materials to pulp biology, both in the laboratory and in the clinic.  He is the author of numerous articles published in the best journals in the field and has written several book chapters on endodontics and dental composites. He has received several scientific awards and is on the editorial board of several journals, notably Dental Materials. He is also a reviewer for several renowned journals in the field, such as the Journal of Endodontics, Clinical Oral Investigations or the International Endodontic Journal. He was a member-at-large of the Board of the Academy of Dental Materials from 2020 to 2024.
