Tchilalo Boukpessi

Boukpessi Tchilalo is currently full professor in endodontics and restorative dentistry at Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium since September 2024. Before that, she has been full professor at University of Paris. She obtained her PhD in Paris Descartes University in 2009 studying the pathophysiology of dentin matrix in dentin caries and rare diseases (especially the impairment of siblings). She gained a post-doctoral fellowship in Mc Gill University (Canada) on Osteopontin and the dento-osseous pathobiology of X-linked hypophosphatemia. She studied pulp biology, especially in the context of pulpitis, in the laboratory of Orofacial Pathologies, Imaging and Biotherapies , Oral Health headed by Pr. C. Chaussain. She has developed an expertise in the analysis of pathophysiologic mineralization processes through the development of different in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models (in vitro mineralized tissue treatments allowing histological, immunochemical, and morphometric approaches, in vivo experimental models, dynamical follow-up imaging and biological analyses of mineralization process using murine models of diseases). She has developed several collaborations in Europe around projects focusing on vital pulp therapy. She supervised 3 PhD students, has co-authored more than 25 articles and received grants form French research institutes.
