Prasanna Neelakantan, a clinician-scientist, is an Associate Professor of Endodontics and Alberta Dental Association & College Endowed Chair at the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry, University of Alberta, Canada. He is the Vice President of the International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research Microbiology/Immunology scientific group. He serves as the endodontics section editor for Clinical Oral Investigations, and Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. He leads the MICRO lab, which conducts trans-disciplinary research programs that synergize his expertise in clinical (dentistry, endodontics) and foundational sciences (microbiology). The MICRO lab develops innovative technology to tackle biofilms and attune the inflammatory response to create conducive environments for tissue repair. His work has been well-funded by research councils and industry. His research has culminated in 150 peer-reviewed publications. Further accomplishments include the AAE Foundation for Endodontics Anil Chandra Award for Full time Educators, Innovation in Oral Care Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the IADR Joseph Lister Award for Young Investigators, Outstanding Teacher Award, and the Best Knowledge Exchange Project by the University of Hong Kong.
