Maria Pigg

Dr. Maria Pigg is a full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics, Malmö University, Sweden. She received her D.D.S. from the University of Gothenburg and Certificate in Endodontics from Malmö University 2013. Ph.D. studies with a thesis titled “Chronic intraoral pain–Assessment of diagnostic methods and prognosis” (2011) were undertaken with the Department of Endodontics and the Department of Orofacial Pain and Jaw Function at the same university.
Dr. Pigg has published 40+ articles in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored several book chapters on non-odontogenic pain and endodontic emergencies. Her interest in diagnostics, and particularly the effectiveness in clinical practice, has led to collaboration with practice-based research network. She is the current chair of the Swedish Endodontic Society and serves on the Education and Scholarship Committee of the ESE. She is also a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the International Association of Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR) where she has previously served as the President of the Neuroscience Scientific Group and is currently chair of the INfORM Taxonomy Committee. Dr. Pigg is an associate editor of the Journal of Oral & Facial Pain and Headache.
