Yusuke Takahashi

Yusuke Takahashi

Dr. Yusuke Takahashi graduated with a DDS from Osaka University in 1998 and obtained his PhD in 2002. He began his career as a clinical fellow, followed by several years as a postdoctoral fellow at Osaka University. In 2006, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the same institution. In 2009, Dr. Takahashi joined the University of Birmingham, UK, as an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Oral Biology, under the mentorship of Prof. Anthony Smith and Prof. Paul Cooper. Upon returning to Japan, he was appointed Associate Professor in 2015. He currently holds a dual role at Osaka University, serving both in the Dental Hospital as a certified specialist in conservative dentistry (approved by the Japanese Dental Specialty Board) and at the Graduate School of Dentistry, where he supervises both undergraduate and PhD students. Dr. Takahashi’s research focuses on vital pulp treatment, with particular emphasis on both diagnostic methods and therapeutic strategies. He is especially interested in developing a novel diagnostic approach for pre- and intra-operative pulp assessment, and in advancing treatment protocols for irreversible pulpitis. He has established a rat model for caries-induced reversible and irreversible pulpitis and is actively investigating new therapeutic agents to treat pulpitis and potentially avoid root canal therapy.
